Every Saturday morning, I drive from the south of Sydney to the north in my old second-hand car to teach at a Korean language school. As I pass English signposts and listen to Korean podcasts, my mind sometimes finds its way back to Korea.

A few days ago, a podcast about Kim Seung-ok’s Mujin Travelogue brought back a novel I had loved passionately as a teenager—and with it, a part of myself I had almost forgotten. Somewhere along the roads of Sydney, I began to imagine a signpost that read, “Mujin 10 km.” It felt as though the sign were inviting me to enter that foggy world once again, and to meet the girl I had once been.
